How the Study Abroad Mentorship Programme Works

Unlike agencies and consultancies, as a reputable lifelong learning institution based in the UK, we approach our applicants differently when they seek offers from universities abroad for their higher studies. We don't just submit applications on their behalf. Instead, we mentor and guide the applicants by discussing their goals and career objectives and assisting them in selecting the best courses and universities aligned with their future ambitions. Our approach is built on three key principles, which are outlined below.

Mentoring

We mentor students to find their focus and apply for the appropriate courses.

Tutoring

We tutor students to prepare documents for submitting strong applications.

Empowering

We empower students with relevant knowledge so that they can make informed decisions.

Step by Step

1. Personalised Assessment

A mentor will be assigned to each student to help them complete a tailored template form to provide us with a clear understanding of their background, academic interests, and goals.

2. Career-focused Course Selection

The mentor will then assist students in identifying the most suitable courses and universities that align with their career goals and interests, ensuring a seamless transition into their professional lives.

3. Document Preparation

While the mentor is already discussing course selection, will start offering document preparation support to the assigned student. The mentor will show the student how to write research proposal and personal statement, how to craft a good academic CV, how to collect strong reference letters and so on. This goal is to prepare students in such a way that we can submit strong applications for them to the universities and enhance their chances of securing offers in their desired institutions.

4. Finding Supervisors

If the student is applying for a research master's or PhD program and the course requires a supervisor upfront, expert mentors will assist them in reaching out to potential supervisors. We have developed an effective strategy at LSLIT for communicating with potential supervisors. The mentor will explain the strategy to the applicant and help them in finding a supervisor at a university.

5. Applying

We utilise our advanced application portal to streamline the application process. Applicants only need to complete the form once and can submit applications to multiple universities. Our dedicated application team takes over at this point to handle the submission process for the students.

6. Follow-ups

The application team regularly checks for updates from the universities. Our application portal allows students to receive live notifications and view our communications with the admission team, ensuring full transparency.

7. Preparing for Interviews

For research master's and PhD students applying in the UK, it is essential for them to pass an interview with two academics from the department. Typically, one of the academics is their potential supervisor, while the other is a colleague from the department. The assigned mentor will prepare students for the interview by discussing the types of questions they might face and how to effectively handle them during the interview.

8. Visa Letter and Security Clearance

Our expert team will help students obtain their visa letter and security clearance, such as CAS and ATAS in the UK, respectively. These documents are crucial for the visa application, and making mistakes could potentially end the study abroad journey. LSLIT has a dedicated team that ensures the process is completed without any issues or mistakes.

9. Visa Processing

We have a visa support team who will prepare students for credibility interviews by taking mock interviews (if necessary) and offer free full visa processing service for the main applicants and their dependents.

Special Services for Research Master's and PhD Admission

Applicants applying for a research degree often encounter unique challenges not experienced by typically taught applicants. Many agencies lack the expertise to address these situations and end up misguiding applicants. In response to numerous complaints from applicants misguided by different agencies, we have decided to create a specialised stream within our mentorship program that specifically caters to the needs of research students. This program will offer all the existing services provided to taught students, as well as three essential services tailored to the needs of research students, as stated below.

Write an Engaging Research Proposal

In this mentorship programme, academics with research experience will help you craft your research proposal.
